Welcome back!
Welcome back! I hope that you all had a very enjoyable long weekend. I hope that you are all ready for a short 4 day week in which we will get lots of new information and work hard toward acheiving our goals.

Special congratulations to LHS student Alysia Ortega for winning a Regional Scholastic Art SILVER KEY Award in Fashion Photography. If any of the rest of you won awards, please let me know - you deserve the recognition! Great job, Alysia!

Here is an article or review of the top 10 GRAPHIC DESIGN programs at universities in the southwest. I would like to briefly visit this list first thing during class so that you can see how close you live to the number one program.

First Year: 

Adding textures to cubes.
Sketchbook #21 - Using the example at the left, create nine cubes with differing textures applied. This is a great Micron pen exercise, but can easily be acheived with a pencil as well. The textures can be any textures of your choice, but when completed, they should look appropriately applied to the cube, as these examples are. Try it, textures can help you become much more expressive in your sketching.

Tutorial #10 - Creation of a magazine cover from scratch.

Tutorial #11 - Straightening a crooked image. Watch only. Nothing needs to be turned in unless you want to get credit for trying it!

Wrapping up Boot Camp! This is all video content that is from lynda.com. I have made a playlist of intermediate level information that will be helpful to you as you continue to learn what we have left to cover in Photoshop. In a day or so, you will begin to have daily exercises or "projects" from the things that are covered in this list. Here is the link to access the playlist.

  • The fifth phase is development of script writing and creating final visual presentation.  This phase must be COMPLETE by Wednesday, Feb. 22
  • The final phase is rehearsal and polishing your presentationThis phase must be COMPLETE by Monday, February 27
  • The presentation date will be determined by how well things are going on Monday run throughs. We will have a run-through for practice, and then we will be ready to present. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE TUESDAY, FEB. 28th!
Practicum: Continue with portfolio prep - the next review will begin right after Spring Break. I should expect to see new work being displayed and some old work displaced...
